Blog one O one

Headline: LAPAROSCOPY aka My Baby Making Parts are getting a Tune Up.

Here I am, day two of my laparoscopy prep. Day one: a breeze. Anything liquid. Pumpkin soup: check, Smoothie: check. Easy squeezy. Day two .... ahhhh I'm a HANGRY woman! The rule is I can consume "anything the sunlight can shine through" .... sorry what? Is that even a food group?? Then comes the Pico prep.

PicoPrep is used to remove the bowel contents and cleanse it prior to the doctor’s examination or surgery. It enables your doctor to see inside easily.

Yeah... everything comes out. EVERYTHING!! Thank goodness for portable entertainment aka mindless facebook scrolling. This has never been so important to me. Distraction is required.

The purpose of this blog is to document and assist anyone else on a similar journey. I am having a cyst on my ovary removed and my mirena (IUD) removed. I really struggled to find any creative advice for what to eat for a Pico Prep diet so I've put together what I ate for the days prior to surgery.

SUMMARY

Day 1

- Pumpkin Soup

- Smoothie: I had a banana and almond milk with vanilla bean extract and lots of ice

- Jelly: Literally the second time in my life I've eaten jelly.... still not a fan

- White bread. Dry white bread.

- White fish

- Lots of tea

- Kombucha (another blog on this to follow)

Day 2

Now this is where the real challenge begins. Consume: "Anything the sun can shine through". Any cheating and apparently you'll pay for it. So I'm sticking to the rules.

- Jelly (not red, blue or purple)

- Electrolytes (again, no red, blue or purple)

- Chicken soup strained (that's broth) - Stock cubes with hot water. Pretend it is soup

- Soak dates in hot water and drink the water

- Water with lemon, mint, and any other flavouring

- Tea tea tea! (no milk)

I hope that helps any one out there having to prep for surgery.
